Nina Carlson ’24, computer science major

Major: Computer Science and Economics

Clark Days: Nina feels that she’s left her mark on campus through her work as president of C4, the Clark Competitive Computing Club. She’s used her platform to ensure that her peers and local youth know that female-identifying, gender-expansive, and minority students belong in STEM fields. During the summers of 2022 and 2023, she interned in the Microsoft Explorer program, a hybrid of software engineering and program management. She fed her adventurous spirit by studying in Iceland in spring 2023 and by finding a new passion after taking a film photography class.

Post-Commencement Plans: In August, Nina begins her career as a junior software engineer at Microsoft in Seattle.

Reflection: “It’s so important to keep female-identifying people active in this industry and lift them up.”
